I am now testing offering cell phone wallpapers through Dreams in Digital Art.

During this initial testing phase the art may be pieces other than the normal wallpapers and avatars that I offer. I am trying different things to find optimum resolutions and image compression formats.

I ask that anyone who does download a wallpaper to their phone please drop me a comment and let me know how the process was, and how the image looks on your phone. I’d like to make this a regular feature of Dreams in Digital Art, but it’ll depend on comments from visitors.

Just arrived, new art!

Despair is the first piece in my Blue Moods Series. (Don’t ask about the others yet, they’ll get here when they get here).

A beautiful angel sits in solitude, naked and vulnerable to the mood surrounding her.

This piece is being released as wallpapers, an avatar, and on merchandise in both my cafepress and printfection stores.

Things may be interesting around the wallpaper pages over the next few days. In an attempt to decrease page load times I’m gonna switch from the current method of posting full size images with an HTML resize to posting zip files with a much smaller thumbnail on the wallpaper page. The zips will include a readme file also so that any pertinent information is included along with the image. And since the front page image will be a proper sized thumb and not an HTML resize the clarity will be significantly better and not as garbled looking as some of the images currently look.
The new system will also let me switch from two pages of wallpapers dependent on size, to one page with the corresponding zips.

Another change that is coming to the wallpapers is the standardization of image formats. Currently there is a mix of .png images and jpegs. With the new system I will have all the images standardized to jpeg.

Currently I plan to make no similar changes to the avatar page since the images are significantly smaller and there would be no gain in doing so.

As these changes are implemented please be aware that downloading of wallpapers may be sporadic. I’ll try to make the transition as smooth as possible, but as with any changes expect some bumps. Also if you experience sudden problems, try refreshing the web page or clearing your cache. That way you have the most up to date page while I’m working on it.

I’ve decided that when the inspiration strikes me I’ll also add current events avatars onto the avatar page. The success of this venture into different avatars will ultimately depend on you. If feedback is favorable then I’ll probably make more as they come to me. If not then I probably won’t. These avatars will only be available for a limited time since the subject that they are based on will also be limited, so get them while you can.

The first current event avatar is available to celebrate the resignation of Donald Rumsfeld.

NaNoWriMo is almost upon us, and to celebrate (and prepare myself mentally) I’ve decided to take some time to make some writing inspired avatars and wallpapers. Some will be very simple, others not so. But I hope that everybody will enjoy the writing themed art.

Please join me for the month of insanity (if you haven’t already), and pick up your favorite writing themed art as it becomes available.

Here are the first avatars, and keep checking back because there are more to come. And also check the wallpapers for desktop size versions of the writing girl.

Please note that the file size for the animated writer is VERY large. 500Kb large. Livejournal says that it’s too big, and most message boards will not allow a direct upload of such a large file. You can either try to reduce the file size or upload the file to your site/image hosting provider and link to it within the message board system. If I get a chance I’ll try to make a smaller version, but no promises.
